Atticus Barbell Club is a British Weightlifting affiliated club based here at Ascension Training – CrossFit Epsom. Formed in 2023 by Aaron Holt & Jess Roebuck-Slaney, Atticus is a community driven weightlifting club for all ages, experiences and abilities.

What is Olympic Weightlifting?


Olympic Weightlifting consists of two (technically three) main lifts:

  • The Snatch: Lifting the barbell from the ground to overhead in one fluid motion.

  • The Clean and Jerk: A two-part movement where the barbell is lifted to the shoulders (the clean) and then driven overhead (the jerk).

These movements may look complex, but with proper instruction, they become an exciting and rewarding challenge.

 

Accessible for Everyone


Weightlifting might sound intimidating, but it’s far more accessible than you think. Whether you’re just starting out or already a seasoned lifter, we’ve got you covered. At Atticus Barbell Club, you’ll find a supportive community and experienced coaches dedicated to helping you succeed.

There’s no minimum strength requirement to get started—every movement pattern is scalable, whether you’re lifting a PVC pipe or a loaded barbell.
